What to do in Phoenix Arizona!
- Star Gaze at Lost Dutchman State Park: Chad and I had a little spare time the first evening we were in town, so we googled the best places to star gaze. Lost Dutchman State Park popped up as number 1, so we immediately jumped in our car and drove the 45 minutes to the park. We chased the sunset the entire way there, and it was WORTH IT. Absolutely plan a bit ahead and get there before the sun sets so you can take in the entire view, and then stay a while longer and just see every star in the sky! You can also night hike which we didn’t know! Next time!
ย
- Go to the Phoenix Zoo: We aren’t normally big zoo goers, but when we looked into the Phoenix zoo, we realized that it’s the largest non-profit zoo in the United States. The zoo actually puts the money they make back into taking care of the animals, and it shows! Most of the animals we saw had large habitats with quite a bit of space to roam! One of the highlights was feeding giraffes! Yes, feeding them straight into their scratchy long tongues! Make sure you google when the zoo will be feeding the giraffes so you can make sure to get in on this amazing experience!
- Take a Day Trip to Sedona: It’s a must! Sedona is about 2 hours away, maybe a little less if there isn’t any traffic, and it is absolutely worth the drive! The views will be unlike anything you see anywhere else, with the huge red rock formations and endless cliffs jutting into the sky! Unlike the Grand Canyon, these are canyons and cliffs you can actually explore with ease! We did the Doe Mountain trail, which is relatively short with one of the best views waiting for you at the top! Also, don’t forget to stop and see the iconic Chapel of the Holy Cross that’s built right into the side of a cliff!
- Eat breakfast!: We found a place called BLD Chandler (obviously in Chandler and not Phoenix, but close enough) that you should absolutely visit for a huge delicious breakfast! Chad and I always go with a classic breakfast so we get a little bit of everything, eggs, bacon, toast, potatoes, but then we always share something sweet like a waffle or pancake. This time we went with the waffle and it was DELICIOUS. Also, obviously I’m always going to suggest that you get the mimosa…
We also visited downtown Scottsdale, which was such a cool little artsy area. We ate at a place called Hop Social Tavern that had amazing drinks and nachos. We went to a wine tasting room in Sedona for the Javelina Leap vineyards. We saw lots of palm trees and took in a sunset almost every night! So, here are a few more photos from our trip, but if you ever make it out that way and are looking for what to do in phoenix, we hope a few of these tips help! Also, if you’ve already been, comment below with your suggestions as well!
Also, if you aren’t already following along with our vlog, here’s our video from Sedona! Be sure to follow along and subscribe so you can see our video from the zoo coming Friday!

I love the giraffe pic! So cute! Mimosas are a must for vacay breakfast aren’t they!?
Thanks for sharing guys! Lovely pics! I would love to hike there ๐
Thanks so much guys! They are an absolute must! ๐๐ฅ
Love all the pics, guys! We used to live in Phoenix so this is a trip down memory lane for us ๐ Sedona is one of our favorites, we used to go there all the time! If you go back, try to revisit the zoo for one of their night events, check out the Desert Botanical Garden and take a drive up to Flagstaff. You made great choices!
We heard great things about the botanical garden but sadly ran out of time! We definitely want to do Flagstaff too! Maybe in the winter because chad loves to ski!
It looks like you packed a lot into your trip! I love the giraffe pics, and Sedona looks amazing! And ok, if you insist on the mimosa… ๐ Great post guys!
The giraffes were so cute! We always insist on a mimosa ๐๐๐ผ๐ฅ
Awesome tips for seeing Phoenix and the surrounding area. Havenโt been to Lost Dutchman, will have to check it out. Papago Park is nice and has amazing views of the city. Also, when you return, you e got to try Indian Tacos and Sonoran Dogs! Tucson has the best Sonoran Fogs around at el Guero Canelo. Theyโre amazing and so cheap. Loved sharing this trip with you two.
Ohh Indian tacos and Sonoran Dogs both sound so good! We will absolutely have to hit up both next time we are there!
Loved the vlog. Iโm heading to Sedona this week to hike and of course refuel.
We hope you had an amazing time in Sedona! Itโs so beautiful there!
Oh wow, that chapel looks amazing!
It was so beautiful!
